Ro Health is looking for a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team at a California State Prison!
This position plays a vital role in collecting and processing laboratory specimens while ensuring a safe, hygienic, and therapeutic environment within the facility. Details:
Location: San Quentin, CA
Schedule: 5 days/week, 8-hour shifts
Higher Pay for Travelers: Additional compensation for those commuting 50+ miles from the facility
Employment Type: Contract
Qualifications:
Active California Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT-1 or CPT-2)
At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience
BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
Ability to pass a strict background check
Excellent communication and patient care skills
Key Responsibilities:
Perform venipunctures and capillary draws for blood specimen collection
Properly label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing
Follow strict infection control and safety protocols
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
Ensure proper handling, storage, and transport of specimens
Communicate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare staff regarding lab orders and patient needs
Assist in maintaining phlebotomy supplies and equipment
Ensure compliance with CDCR policies, state regulations, and facility protocols
