The School Health Clinical Supervisor (SHCS) provides training, mentoring and supervision of nurse providers working in the school setting including those working with students individually or staffing the school health office. Using clinical knowledge and judgment, the Clinical Supervisor will help coordinate school health services and act as a liaison between Ro Health nurses and support staff, school district nurses and personnel, and families to provide safe and effective health care for the students we serve.
The SHCS is an experienced nurse with appropriate credentials and clinical background. The position requires: local travel, flexibility with daily priorities, ability to successfully train staff including new or recent graduates. The SHCS is part of an Area Team and reports to the Area Manager and School Clinical Operations Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct new provider orientation, nursing procedures skills training and evaluate competency according to Ro Health company policy.
Conduct annual refresher training for returning nurses according to company policy.
Supervise RN’s and LPN’s in your geographic area.
Must have availability to deploy to school sites when needed.
Assist the Area Team with placing the appropriate level/experienced nurse candidate to a school position.
Provide clinical expertise, resources and problem-solving assistance.
Review Health Care Provider (HCP) orders and school health care plans or obtain HCP orders and create school care plans when required by school contracts. *
Act as liaison between Ro Health staff, school district nurses and personnel, and families.
Communicate with HCP’s to clarify orders, report changes or concerns on student conditions where needed.
Attend the first day of care for new students, new nurses or some combination as required.
Review and complete provider incident reports. Provide follow up where indicated.
Respond to parent or provider concerns and report to the Area Manager.
Utilize procedures for documentation and retention of records.
Assist with the provider evaluation process.
Assist with Quality Improvement Initiatives and the implementation of Corrective Action Plans
Attendance and participation in area team meetings and monthly school clinical supervisor meetings is required.
